Nevis´ first and only full SCUBA outfit. Scuba Safaris, a PADI 5 STAR DIVE CENTER is based at the Oualie Beach, a sheltered, shallow bay on the Northern end of the island. We have been in operation since 1985, offering superior knowledge and experience of our local waters, numerous Nevis and St. Kitts dive sites

Scuba Safaris boast friendly professional staff eager to share their knowledge and their dive experiences or just sit, sip a cool cocktail "shooting the breeze" with their guest after an enjoyable day´s dive.

  • Boats depart from the Oualie Beach Resort dock every morning about 9:00 AM for two tank boat dives and return between 12:30 and 1:00 PM.
  • Afternoon trips depart at about 1:30, and are usually 1-tank, Discover Scuba, or snorkel excursions.
  • Water temperatures vary from a warm 86 F during the summer down to 79 F during the winter months. Visibility averages about 80 feet, depending upon weather and season.

Dive Nevis
Our diving is diverse, with ledges, mini-walls, white holes teeming with fish, caves and drift diving in some area. Most reefs on the Atlantic side and offshore on the Caribbean side are pristine, with monster-sized sea fans and sponges growing over piles of lava rocks. Regularly visited reef and wreck sites are on the sheltered Caribbean side of the islands and in the cut (“The Narrows”) between Nevis and St. Kitts, but trips to the Atlantic where the mysterious white holes lie and large pelagic are encountered may be arranged when seas are calm.

Dive St. Kitts
St. Kitts offers the most dive sites, with wrecks and alternate sheltered areas on the Caribbean side when the seas are rough on the Atlantic side or in The Narrows. Nevis dive sites are more vulnerable to swells when the winds are high, even on its Caribbean side, but currents are usually light and sites are spectacular. Average visibility is 80 to 100 feet, with exceptional water clarity at the cut and offshore Caribbean and Atlantic reefs. Water temperature is 80-85 degrees year-round. Depths for scuba range from 30 to 90 feet, averaging 50 feet. Certification, referrals and resort course with PADI and NAUI instructors are offered. The average boat trip to a dive site takes 15 minutes.

Policies & disclaimers

  • Proof of certification must be presented prior to diving. This can be done with divers certification card . A dive log is also acceptable to show proof of dive experience.
  • A "refresher" dive is recommended for all divers who have not been diving in two years and over.
  • Exercise neutral buoyancy on all dives to prevent both coral and personal damage. Damage to the reef or removal of coral is considered an offence.
  • Have all personal dive gear checked before you travel on your dive vacation.
  • Even though our boats have some shade there is a possibility of some sun exposure so adding sun protection - sunscreen and towels to your "bring along list" would be a good idea.
  • Do not fly for at least 12 hours after diving. In some cases a 24 hour wait will be advisable. You may dive on the day of your arrival but it is best to wait until the next day.
  • 15 foot safety stop is recommended on all dives.

Recommended Gratuity
The scuba diving business is a seasonal service industry, and although the general public is seldom aware of it, gratuities are a major part of a crew member’s salary. Few other recreational activities rely so heavily upon the professionals in charge for your enjoyment and safety. A gratuity of 15% is customary, but many leave more when they feel the service was above. If you are disappointed with the service, you should inform the Scuba Safaris´ manager of your feelings right away so he/she may rectify the situation. Leave no more gratuity than you feel is right.
